🧠 Context

Search engine users increasingly formulate very specific queries, especially when searching for product variations (color, size, format). On CHANEL's site, variant pages (FSH) were previously excluded from indexing via noindex attributes or a lack of direct links.

🚧 Challenge

Product variants, though dynamically loaded in a carousel, were not crawlable or indexable. This prevented CHANEL from capturing precise long-tail queries with high purchase intent (e.g.: "white caviar leather bag").

💡 Solution

I proposed and led a discreet but strategic SEO configuration change:

  • Removed noindex tags on relevant variant pages
  • Added accessible HTML links to variants within the carousel
  • Preserved user experience with asynchronous product loading
  • Verified indexing signals through Google Search Console

These adjustments allowed better indexability of variants and more accurate capture of user intent.
