SEO-Friendly Filtered PLPs for CHANEL

SEO-Friendly Filtered PLPs for CHANEL

Description

🧠 Context

Search Engine Friendly Filtered Product Listing Pages (PLPs) are designed to address popular search intents by facilitating indexing while avoiding undesirable side effects related to URL duplication or crawl budget exhaustion.

🚧 Challenge

In their classic form, dynamic filter pages are neither crawlable nor indexable by search engines. They also raise duplicate content or abusive pagination concerns.

💡 Solution

A technical specification was developed to define behaviors for each filtered PLP scenario (single filter, combined filter, empty PLP, deletion, pagination, sorting, etc.). Requirements included:

  • Clean and stable URLs, without query strings
  • 200 server response for valid pages, 301 redirect to parent PLP if empty or deleted
  • Pagination links obfuscated from bots
  • Canonical, H1, title, meta description and hreflang batch-configurable
  • Integration into both XML and HTML sitemaps
  • Breadcrumb and anchoring from parent PLPs

This setup ensures both technical and semantic optimization of these strategic pages.

Mission

Formalize technical and semantic requirements for deploying SEO-optimized filtered PLPs.
