Akamai Redirect Rules for CHANEL

Akamai Redirect Rules for CHANEL

Description

🧠 Context

As part of harmonizing redirect behaviors on chanel.com, a full audit was conducted to define clear and testable requirements. The project formalized technical redirect rules for every web resource type, considering both users and search engines.

🚧 Challenge

Redirection behaviors often violated SEO best practices. Some redirects were temporary, chained, or pointed to non-indexable resources, negatively impacting both UX and organic performance.

💡 Solution

  • SEO use cases modeled through SEO user stories
  • Requirement matrix documenting observed vs. expected behaviors
  • Explanatory legend including criticality scoring and compliance levels
  • Validation through real cases: HTTP/HTTPS, subdomains, trailing slashes, redirect chains, etc.

This reference is now actively used by infrastructure teams for Akamai rule implementation, ensuring SEO-compliant and durable redirect management.

Mission

Definition of SEO and user-compliant redirect rules to be implemented by CHANEL infrastructure teams via Akamai.
